The first step in our process at America's Natural Fiberworks is to tumble all incoming fleeces.

The tumbler is designed to gently fluff your fiber and loosen dirt. As the tumbler spins, dirt is thrown from the fleeces. This is a big "loss" area for most customers. We typically see about 4 ounces of loss at this stage. A way for you to minimalize this loss is to have your animals blown out just before shearing. Many people choose to use a Shop-Vac.

The tumbler might also catch some of those unwanted toenail trimmings that get caught in your fleeces during the busy shearing day.

This area is a must before moving onto the scouring process.
